About

rrala manta manta is an ambitious project that seeks to showcase significant Aboriginal craft and design makers in a high profile arena; draw together community members across all ages and regions through participation in the forum and workshops; and to open dialogue with international indigenous communities that have, and continue to address similar social, community and cultural issues. It is a project that aims to build partnerships regionally, nationally and internationally.

On Thursday 26th August, a forum will be held at Launceston’s Hotel Grand Chancellor as part of the Junction 2010 Regional Arts Conference program. Six speakers have been invited to share their thoughts on a variety of topics relevant to indigenous art both in Australia and overseas.

Over the following weeks, a series of workshops will be held at the Design Centre – Tasmania, sharing skills in a variety of traditional Tasmanian Aboriginal crafts. To express your interest, please email melanie@designcentre.com.au
